"If you haven't yet heard of Ray Hearn, you soon will.
Hearn is a talented young golf course architect based in Michigan who, in the
last 10 years, has added a wide variety of course designs to his portfolio. His
newest is Hemlock Golf Club in the charming west Michigan town of Ludington, a
pretty port on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan....
....Kudos for a great job at creating an unconventional golf
course yet keeping it affordable. Keep an eye on Ray Hearn."
- Ron Whitten, GolfDigest
Large fairways, amply sized yet distinctively
rolling greens coupled
with strategically placed sand waste areas all contribute to a stern
challenge for the pros from the back tees while offering an enjoyable
experience for the beginner from the forward tees.

Hemlock #18
Instead of creating typical modern contemporary
sand bunkers we
simply utilized sand formations throughout the site that look like
small natural sand dunes. The result is a stunning look as the sand
contrasts the different green hues of the trees, greens, tees,
fairways and rough areas in a bold yet attractive manner.

Information:
The Hemlock Golf Club is located minutes from
beautiful downtown Ludington. When you ask tourist what they remember most about
Ludington, they typically respond, "the beautiful beach and sand dunes on Lake
Michigan." At the Hemlock the natural sand areas played a significant role in
our design thus unifying the golf course with a larger more significant regional
landform and resource - sand beaches and dunes.
