Raymond Hearn Golf Course
Designs is flourishing in the international market
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
December 1,
2007
(Holland, Michigan)---Raymond Hearn Golf Course Designs, Inc. is
flourishing in the international market with active high-end golf
resort projects in eight different countries.
“We’re excited about our design opportunities throughout the world.
Our clients see the value of a course designed by Raymond Hearn Golf
Course Designs, Inc. Very few golf course design firms can compare
to ours in terms of the excellence of our designs and the
comprehensive nature of our design process. We are highly
sought-after and have been very selective about those with whom we
work”.
“We are very fortunate to be working on some of the best golf sites
around the world. Our Porto Marina Golf Club near Alexandria, Egypt,
opened to rave reviews this fall and we are a few months away from
breaking ground on our spectacular new course at the Domaine de
Lavagnac Resort in southern France. This resort is destined to
become one of Europe’s finest”.
Ray is privileged to have some of the most gifted staff supporting
him on every project, particularly his very talented Senior Designer
Scott Thacker. A new addition to the firm’s growing staff is Bert
Hogg as Associate Designer. Bert is a true historian of the game and
enjoys dual residency in the United States and Scotland.
Hearn’s career in the golf industry dates back more than twenty
years, when he won an Evans Scholarship from the Western Golf
Association and earned multiple degrees in turfgrass science, soil
science, golf course design, landscape architecture and land
planning at Michigan State University. This very unique and highly
varied educational background makes him an authority and expert in
the field of golf course design. In his 23-year career he has
designed and remodeled numerous courses throughout the U.S. and
abroad.
“When I first began my career in golf course design, it was a bit
daunting to know I was competing for work against some of the most
famous names in golf. But we’ve worked diligently to convince our
clients that planning and attention to detail is everything in golf
course design,” says Hearn. “We’ve proven to course clients and
operators that engineering, playability and environmental
considerations are equally as important as aesthetics and artistic
expression.”
In addition to his membership in the prestigious American Society of
Golf Course Architects, the company’s president Raymond Hearn is a
member of the USGA, NGF and the Golf Course Superintendents
Association of America. Ray is currently the only North
American-based golf course architect teaching golf course
architecture annually in Scotland, Ireland and England.
